As we progress through the Covid19 crisis and begin to see reductions in infections, the NHS has launched a campaign to advise the public that the “NHS is open”, urging people to come forward with concerns about their health. This is being met with variable responses.
On the one hand, many people with recent diagnoses and long-term conditions are anxious to pursue treatment that has been put on hold due to the focus on Covid. On the other hand, they are anxious about entering a hospital or clinic while Covid is still prevalent.
One thing that is absolutely clear amidst this uncertainty is the growing list of cancer patents waiting for diagnoses and treatment – but as the Financial Times reported this week, these vary considerably across the NHS.
