Insured Patients

Insurer code: M6770 or M6771

Focal therapies are covered by most major health insurance providers in the UK. However, we recommend that you check your policy details for clarification or speak to your healthcare provider. You’ll need to obtain an authorisation code from your healthcare provider before you attend your first appointment with us if you wish to claim your treatment on your insurance.

Undergoing treatment with us won’t affect your access to NHS services, and you can still have appropriate NHS treatments in the future.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the total cost of my treatment?
Focal therapy starts from £14,000, including VAT. This fee includes your day-case procedure and one year of follow-up with PSA tests. Your 9 or 12-month MRI scan is billed separately. Any required retreatments or additional procedures are not included in this price. We’ll always explain any potential extra costs upfront, so there are no surprises.

“Focal therapy saves money and improves life compared to surgery or radiation.” – Mr Alan Doherty, Consultant Urologist at FTC.
What is included in the cost of treatment?
Everything you need for safe, expert-led care. The package covers:
    • Your focal therapy procedure (NanoKnife or HIFU)
    • Follow-up PSA tests at key intervals
    • Consultant appointments for the first 6 months
    • Ongoing clinical support from our care team
There is no overnight hospital stay needed—it’s a same-day procedure. If you need further care beyond the included year, we’ll guide you with clear pricing.

Note: Your 9-month MRI scan is billed separately.
Is this covered by my health insurance?
Most major UK insurers do cover focal therapy. Providers like Bupa, AXA, WPA, and Aviva typically approve treatment when medically appropriate. You’ll need to request an authorisation code (M6770 or M6771) from your insurer before your first consultation. We can provide supporting letters and invoices to help with your claim. Always check your individual policy to confirm eligibility and coverage.

“Men must be advised of all options—new treatments won’t compromise life.” – Tim Haskey, NanoKnife patient
What if I need a retreatment in the future?
You can still have another focal therapy or move to other options. About 1 in 5 men (up to 20%) may need a second treatment within 5 years. That could be another focal procedure or something different like surgery or radiotherapy. Focal therapy doesn’t close off future options. We’ll monitor your recovery with regular PSA tests and scans, so if anything changes, we can act early and wisely.

“Focal therapy patients recover faster and still have all future options.” – Mr Tim Dudderidge, Consultant Urologist
Can I still access the NHS after having a private treatment?
Yes, you can continue to use NHS services if needed. Choosing focal therapy privately does not affect your right to NHS care now or in the future. You can still access NHS follow-ups, scans, or further treatments if your cancer returns or changes over time. Some patients use the NHS for PSA monitoring or imaging later on. Your GP and NHS team remain available for any appropriate care you may need.

“Patients deserve all options—not just local ones.” – Mr Tim Dudderidge, Consultant Urologist
