NanoKnife & HIFU Treatment Costs
Focal therapy at The Focal Therapy Clinic starts from £14,000 for HIFU and £15,000 for NanoKnife (IRE), including VAT; the initial consultation is £250. Most major UK health insurers cover focal therapy, and self-pay and funding options are available. What's included below.
At The Focal Therapy Clinic, we are proud to work with all major insurers to deliver focal therapy for prostate cancer
We aim to keep Focal Therapy affordable for self-pay patients.
What's included in the price?
Your HIFU (from £14,000) or NanoKnife (from £15,000) package price, inclusive of VAT, covers review of your existing MRI and biopsy, the procedure itself, the anaesthetist's fee, and your hospital day-case stay. Charged separately: the initial consultation (£250); a new biopsy, if one is needed; and follow-up PSA and MRI scans, which are usually arranged through the NHS. There are no hidden fees — any cost outside the package is set out before you book.
Around 10–20% of men may need a second focal treatment within five years (UK HEAT registry, Reddy et al., 2022). Because focal therapy preserves the prostate, a repeat treatment is possible; a further focal treatment is normally charged as a new procedure at the standard package price.
Not sure whether you qualify? Check your focal therapy eligibility.
Is focal therapy covered by insurance?
Most major UK health insurers — including Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, WPA and Vitality — cover prostate cancer diagnostics and focal therapy when recommended by your consultant urologist. Cover depends on your individual policy; we provide the treatment and procedure codes you need to claim. If you self-pay, finance and instalment options are available so cost isn't a barrier to treatment.
Insurer code: M6770 or M6771Focal therapies are covered by most major health insurance providers in the UK. However, we recommend that you check your policy details for clarification or speak to your healthcare provider. You’ll need to obtain an authorisation code from your healthcare provider before you attend your first appointment with us if you wish to claim your treatment on your insurance.
Undergoing treatment with us won’t affect your access to NHS services, and you can still have appropriate NHS treatments in the future.
